01 / How we help

Make room for
better questions.

Understand the coverage you have. Talk through what matters to you. Explore options without committing to a change.

Ask Life Insurance Questions

Have your policy or coverage summary nearby. Discuss the information you provide and the questions that matter to you. We cannot retrieve your carrier account or confirm its official status.

Understand Coverage Terms

Talk through benefits, limitations and terminology shown in your documents. Your policy and the insurer’s records control coverage; our agency cannot make a carrier coverage or claim decision.

Explore Available Options

Ask about life insurance products an agent is licensed and authorized to offer. Availability, eligibility and pricing vary. A conversation does not change or cancel your current policy.

Speak With a Licensed Agent

You reach My Policy Help Desk’s licensed insurance agents, not the carrier’s customer-service department. We discuss life insurance questions and available options; account transactions and claims belong with the carrier.

Your Colonial Penn policy

Understanding the coverage shown on your Colonial Penn policy

If your Colonial Penn policy uses coverage units, check the actual benefit amount on your schedule—not just the monthly price or number of units. Unit-based coverage is not the same as a fixed benefit amount for every customer.

Need official account service?

Colonial Penn must confirm payments, account changes and official policy status. Our agents cannot perform those transactions.

Your coverage questions

Colonial Penn: details worth checking

Start with the contract you actually have. These general explanations do not confirm an individual policy’s status or benefits.

What does a unit of Colonial Penn coverage mean?

For a unit-based Colonial Penn policy, the number of units is not the death-benefit amount. Read your schedule for the benefit per unit, total benefit and total premium. The advertised price per unit does not mean everyone receives the same coverage amount. Older or different products may use different terms, so compare your actual documents rather than an advertisement.

  • Locate the benefit per unit on your schedule.
  • Check your unit count, total death benefit and total premium together.
  • Read any initial benefit limitations separately.

Check when the full benefit becomes payable

Colonial Penn describes a limited-benefit period for its guaranteed-acceptance product. Check whether that provision applies to your policy, when it ends and how accidental and non-accidental death are treated. Our agency can discuss the terminology and available life insurance options; Colonial Penn must confirm your specific contract, account status and claims.

Colonial Penn cash value and policy loans

Cash value and the death benefit are different policy figures. Colonial Penn’s guaranteed-acceptance FAQ says a policy with cash value may support a loan while coverage is in force, and unpaid loan amounts and interest are deducted from the death benefit. Before comparing coverage, check your policy’s cash value, any loan balance and its loan provisions. Colonial Penn must confirm your actual values and loan terms; My Policy Help Desk cannot request or administer a policy loan.

Before you call

A few things
worth knowing.

Clear answers, from the start.

Is this Colonial Penn customer service?

No. Calls reach My Policy Help Desk’s licensed insurance agents. We are an independent agency, not Colonial Penn. We discuss life insurance questions and available options; we cannot access carrier accounts, take carrier payments, change carrier records or process claims.

Does the number of Colonial Penn units tell me my benefit amount?

Not by itself. If your policy is unit-based, read the benefit amount on your actual schedule. The amount associated with a unit is not universal. Older or different Colonial Penn products may use different terms, so bring your own policy information and coverage questions to the conversation.

Does a low price per unit mean a larger death benefit?

Not necessarily. With unit-based coverage, price per unit and dollars of insurance are different figures. Use the benefit per unit and unit count on your own schedule to identify total coverage, then compare that total with the full premium. We do not calculate or confirm your official Colonial Penn benefits.

Can My Policy Help Desk remove a Colonial Penn waiting period?

No. Any initial limited-benefit period is governed by the existing contract; our agency cannot waive or change it. Another policy has its own underwriting and benefit provisions. Do not assume that applying elsewhere provides immediate full benefits or replaces coverage already in force.

Where can I find my Colonial Penn beneficiary designation?

Colonial Penn says the original designation may appear on the application or enrollment form attached to the policy, or on its specification page. Keep any later endorsed beneficiary change with those documents. If the records are unclear, ask Colonial Penn to confirm the current designation. Our independent agency cannot retrieve or change its beneficiary records.

Will my Colonial Penn premium increase as I get older?

For the guaranteed-acceptance coverage described in its current FAQ, Colonial Penn says the rate remains unchanged while you keep the insurance and pay premiums when due. That statement does not establish the terms of every older or different policy. Check your own premium schedule and ask Colonial Penn to resolve any difference between your documents and a current advertisement.

Can I ask about additional coverage without cancelling my policy?

Yes. A conversation with our agency does not change or cancel your coverage. Ask whether keeping your current policy and adding coverage could fit your needs. A replacement may involve new underwriting, costs or benefit limitations. Do not cancel existing coverage just because you have applied for another policy; confirm the new policy and its effective date first.

What should I compare besides the monthly premium?

Compare the death benefit, how long coverage lasts, whether premiums can change, any initial benefit limits, exclusions and riders. For a policy with illustrated values, distinguish contractual guarantees from non-guaranteed projections. Your documents and the issuing insurer establish the terms; an advertised price alone is not a complete comparison.

Is there any obligation to buy?

No. You can ask life insurance questions without committing to buy or change coverage. If you choose to explore another policy, ask about its costs, eligibility requirements and coverage terms before deciding.

What should I have ready for the conversation?

Have your policy or coverage summary and the questions you want to discuss nearby. We work from information you provide; we do not log in to carrier accounts. Do not share account passwords or one-time security codes.

Can you check a payment, policy status or claim?

No. Contact your carrier using the details on your policy or its official website for payment confirmation, official policy status, account changes and claims. Our independent agency can separately discuss life insurance questions and available coverage options.
